Consultation Process
To determine if TMS is suitable for you or your child:
Several clinical studies have explored the use of TMS to treat core symptoms of autism, such as social communication deficits, repetitive behaviors, and emotional regulation issues. These studies provide important insights into how brainwave modulation can benefit individuals with ASD:
Improvements in Neuroplasticity
Studies have shown that TMS can promote neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to adapt and reorganize itself. This is particularly significant for individuals with autism, as the condition often involves atypical neural connectivity. By encouraging more adaptive brain activity through TMS, and even more specifically with TMS’s tailored approach, individuals with autism can experience improvements in communication, behavior, and learning. Neuroplasticity is a key mechanism by which TMS aims to enhance brain function over time, supporting long-term changes in individuals with ASD.

TMS is suitable for individuals struggling with various mental health conditions, including but not limited to ASD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD. Eligibility is determined based on a comprehensive assessment of your specific condition and overall health.
Alternative treatments like TMS are generally considered for autism when conventional therapies, such as behavioral therapy or medication, haven’t been effective. Although the FDA has approved TMS for conditions like major depressive disorder and OCD in adults, TMS for autism is still considered “experimental” As such, more research is needed..
Yes, TMS and TMS are considered safe, non-invasive therapies with a strong safety profile for children.
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) has been widely used to treat various neurological and mental health conditions, and while it is FDA-approved for adults with certain conditions, studies have shown promising results for children with autism as well. Side effects, if any, are generally mild and temporary, such as scalp discomfort or mild headaches, which often fade after the first few sessions.
Before beginning TMS, our team performs a thorough assessment to ensure this treatment is right for your child. We closely monitor each session to prioritize safety and adjust the therapy as needed, supporting a comfortable experience throughout the process.
How TMS Works: A Deeper Dive into the Process
TMS, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, represents a significant leap in mental health treatment, merging the benefits of traditional TMS with the precision of personalized medicine.
Here’s how the process unfolds:
Initial Assessment: The journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation of your brain’s electrical activity . This initial step is crucial for capturing the unique patterns of your brainwaves, which dictate the tailored approach of your treatment.
Tailored Treatment Plan: Leveraging the insights gained from the EEG, our team of experts, comprising neuroscientists and clinicians, meticulously analyze your brain’s specific needs. We consider factors like brain wave frequencies and heart-brain coherence to develop a personalized protocol that targets the precise areas of your brain requiring intervention.
Precise Stimulation: With your custom treatment plan in hand, we proceed to the TMS sessions. A specialized magnetic coil is positioned strategically to focus on the identified areas of the brain. This coil emits gentle magnetic pulses, stimulating neural activity in a way that promotes healthier brain function. Each session is finely tuned to your brain’s specific requirements, ensuring maximum efficacy and comfort.
Ongoing Optimization: Treatment is not static; it evolves as you do. Regular assessments and adjustments to the treatment protocol ensure that your TMS sessions remain perfectly aligned with your progress and continuing needs.
TMS treatment is non-invasive and pain-free. Patients may feel a tapping sensation on the scalp during the session but this is generally well-tolerated.
A typical TMS treatment course involves sessions five days a week, lasting about 30 minutes each, over a period of 6 to 12 weeks. The exact duration may vary based on individual response to the treatment.
Yes, TMS can be integrated with other treatments, including medication and psychotherapy, to provide a comprehensive approach to mental health care. The compatibility of TMS with other treatments will be assessed during your consultation.
Improvements vary by individual and condition being treated. Patients often report enhanced mood, improved cognitive function, reduced anxiety or depression symptoms, and better overall well-being. The specific outcomes will depend on your unique treatment plan and response to TMS.
TMS, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, is a noninvasive therapy that directly targets specific areas of the brain linked to mental health conditions, including depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). By using focused electromagnetic fields, TMS activates or calms neurons deep within the brain, helping to regulate natural brain activity. This approach offers a gentle, non-systemic alternative to traditional therapies, making it a promising option for addressing unique challenges associated with autism.
My name is Marcella, and I have a 4-year-old Son named Dominick. He is the sweetest little guy and his laugh is contagious. At the age of 2 years old Dominick was still not talking and was diagnosed with Autism. Since that day I have been researching and looking into ways to help him. Along the way I have learned there are several levels of Autism, as well as several children that are diagnosed with overlapping conditions. I quickly learned that my struggle while some parents can relate is not as severe as others but that does not diminish what our family and Dominick are experiencing. This allowed me to focus on trying everything recommended and watching to see if it worked for my child. We have tried it all: Camels milk, hyperbaric chamber treatments, vitamins, herbs, therapy and more.
In the summer of 2024 Dominick was lashing out physically and we were all exhausted. I hated to see him so dysregulated. I was in support groups on Facebook and looking into different recommendations or comments from other parents. In December 2024 I came across a post about a treatment being used for children called Trans magnetic Stimulation (TMS). I began researching and saw that it was non-invasive and yielded great results. The downfall was like most treatment, this is not covered yet by Insurance for Autism. I found there were little to no side effects and researched clinics in my area. That is when I found Complete Mind Care.
I reached out and received a call from Michael Flyer. He shared his story of his son and set up a meeting with Randy, the owner. Randy accommodated meeting us on a weekend. Randy answered every question I had and believe me I had a lot. My biggest concern was not that it would hurt Dominick as research showed this was almost unheard of but I was worried I was going to change the smiling, cuddly, laughing son I love and know how to communicate with on a non-verbal level.
My husband and I discussed and decided to go forward with the treatment. I took Dominick for his first EEG and there was a mix up. I was a reck and voiced my opinions to Randy and Michael and I explained how, as a parent of an autistic child, we are always in fight or flight mode and one small incident away from a mental breakdown because all our patience was is used on our children. We discussed what happened and they convinced me to try again, and I am glad I did.
Everyone in the office is so kind and assumed competence with Dominick. They said hi to me and Dominick. They got to know things he liked and accommodated what was needed to get him to sit for the treatment. Prior to this treatment Dominick could say go, he would respond to his name sometimes, he was physical in times of frustration, but he did not have an issue with sleep.
Within 4 days of treatment, I saw Dominick come alive. He was so observant. He was looking out the car window, looking up at birds, and planes. He would come up to me and stare into my eyes, touch and look at my nose. These are all things we had not experienced with him before. I was trying not to get too excited because I didn’t want false hope. After the first 15 treatments he started showing me his age on his fingers and then saying the word four when we would ask his age. He says his name is Dodo and he can say purple. Before we knew it we would ask questions and he would reply to repeating new words like cookie, ocean, and so much more.
During the treatment Dominick did appear to have a headache one or two times. His appetite increased. He was overstimulated in two sessions, but we just ended the session early to accommodate him. He also did have two nights in the 30 days that we saw a change in sleep, but this was most likely due to his disruption in his routine. Dominick does have a structure schedule with OT, Speech, and ABA. Dominick is also on a Gluten Free and mainly Casien Free Diet. It has now been over 30 days since his treatment has ended and he is doing activities that he wants us to interact with. He is doing somersaults and looks to us for cheering. He wants to play and is imitating games we play with him like tickles. It’s been life changing and a help for Dominick. He seems so much more calm in his body.
While I cannot guarantee that this will work for your child, or even if TMS by itself works but what I can say is this was one of the best decisions of my life, thus far with Dominick. Being the parent of an autistic child looks different for each person. Whatever, part of the journey you are on we are all searching for things to help us give our children the best life possible and I believe TMS treatment is worth a try. It helps with behaviors, sleep, and even speech.
I am open to speaking to any parents and will answer any questions. Whatever you decide from one parent to another I hope your journey is filled with love and laughter with your amazing son or daughter.
